In this period, peope were concerned about their cities which were crowded, dirty, and unhealthy[1]. People were getting weaker and died without reasons. Therefore, in 1860, Louis Pasteur discovered that bacteria caused disease [2] and by washing hands regularly and boiling water before drinking could help to kill bacteria. Hence, to improve the city's lives, the government had built gutters and sewers to make streets cleaner and make people healthier. And Tom Almy had contributed to help finishing them. Then, in 1830, he got married to Jenifer Berry who was born in 1810 at New York City, United States. In 1835, Jenifer gave birth a son_ Brusal Almy at New York City, United States. Almy family was the working class, they did not have money to let their son go to school. So at the age of 18, Brusal joined the domestic servants as an unskilled worker. For more information, domestic servants were one of the largest components of the unskilled labor force and served as a transition to urban life for many rural women[3] .

However, when Brusal worked for Washington family, he fell in love with the daughter of house owner_ Olivia Washington. However, in 1850, the ideal of romantic love had triumphed among the working classes, but not for the middle classes[4]. So, they broke up and Olivia married with the partner who was chosen to be her husband. More than that, in 1861, the Civil War had happened and ended Slavery in the United States[5]. Brusal and his father joined the Civil War which lasted 4 years. After the war end, they came back and continued their domestic job. However, in 1865, there was a Bubonic plague, and it took lives of Brusal's father and mother. They were buried at New York City, United States. Seperate for 4 years, Lily Singley who was born in 1840 at New York City, United States, was a domestic worker in Washington family, she decided to state her love to Brusal. They worked together and their love grew everyday. In 1864, they got married, had 2 children and lived peaceful till they died because of influenza "which  is an infectious disease of birds and mammals caused by RNA viruses of the family Orthomyxoviridae, the influenza viruses. The most common symptoms are chills, fever, runny nose, sore throat, muscle pains, headache (often severe), coughing, weakness/fatigue and general discomfort "[6] in 1920 at New York City, United States.  Typically, influenza is transmitted through the air by coughs or sneezes, creating aerosols containing the virus. Influenza can also be transmitted by direct contact with bird droppings or nasal secretions,or through contact with contaminated surfaces.spreads around the world in seasonal epidemics, resulting in about three to five million yearly cases of severe illness and about 250,000 to 500,000 yearly deaths, rising to millions in some pandemic years.[7]

When Mr and Mrs. Christopher Almy passed away, their first son_ William Almy moved to America to escape from the plague, like other people in his town. Unfortunately, the way to get to America was full of obstacles and difficult of access, so people must fight for food and water to survive. One day, he found a girl who fell to the floor in a faint and he realized that girl was look very familiar, maybe they had met before. Then, he decided to take care of her, shared food with her and became her fellow- passenger. During the trip, he found out that she was born at his hometown_ Leicester, England in 1603.[1] (Family Tree, 1978) When they got to America, they knew that they could not live without each other, because they had spent lots of time together. Moreover, they were alone because they lost their family from the plague[2] (2210), so they got married to have a chance to protect each other and share memories for their rest lives.

In 1632, they had their first child. To remember his father, he named his son as his father's name_ Christopher Almy. He got marriage with Elizabeth Cornell who was born in 1637 at Saffon Walden, Essex, England. Thirty years from the marriage of Christopher, his mother died because of ages and one year after that, so did his father because of missing his wife. Another  generation of Almy family had been ended, however, in 1675, Elizabeth gave birth her son_ Job Almy. "During 1700s, some of the drugs and herbs undoubtedly worked many were more effective in speeding the patients to their graves" [3] (A History of Western Society, Volume 2: From the Age of Exploration to the Present.) And Job’s mother was one of its victims. Faith healers believed that demons and evil spirits caused sickness of his mother and exorcism was needed to heal. But actually, she just got a cold and she died because of losing too much blood and getting infected. She was buried at Portsmouth, Newport, Rhode Island, in 1708.

After his wife's death, Christopher Almy,as an Englishman, he decided to join the War of Spanish Succession which happened from 1701 to 1713[4](A History of Western Society, Volume 2: From the Age of Exploration to the Present.), because he would like to contribute for his hometown.  On the last fight, he was got shoot from the army and died in the battle with honour. After that, his body was shifted to his home town, and was buried next to his wife.
Since the death of his father and mother, Job Almy was very disappointed. However, there was a girl who was Ann Lawton, was born in Portsmouth, Newport, Rhode Island, in 1680. She was the only one who was side by side with Mr. Job, took care and listenned to him. Then, they exceed the boundry which was that man and woman were not allowed to have sex before marriage. Moreover, Ann Lawton was pregnant and gave birth in 1725. Based on the law of 1700s, babies were born without marriages of parent would be illegitimate and the babies could not be baptise, means that the babies do not exist.[5](A History of Western Society, Volume 2: From the Age of Exploration to the Present.)
This explains why most of people who was born during 1700s, usually did not have any records about them, like Robert Almy, son of Job Almy and Ann Lawton, who was born in 1725 in Rhode Island, America.
During this period, Almy family depended on the cottage industry to survive, which allowed couples to earn a living and marry earlier, also encouraged marriage for love rather than economic ties between families. They worked in towns attracted young men and women.  Being away from the village meant less pressure to marry when a woman became pregnant.
It is said that Job Almy had a very humdrum existence and he and his wife died because of ages in 1743. And because of that, Robert Almy became a lonely man, so he decided to join American armed forces. Through out his life, to serve for the American Revolution, he did not stay at one place because as a soldier, he was garrisoned in many countries, like other soldiers. This  also explained why the rates of illegitimacy rose sharply between 1750 and 1850.[6]
Moving on, when he was in Massachusetts, he was in relationship with Jenny Adams, who was born in Massachusetts, America, in 1730. Their love lasted 5 years, until he moved to New Jersey in 1755 and they were out of touch since that. That was why Robert Almy never knew that he had a son with Jenny Adams. She was 3 months pregnant in the last time she met Robert and in 1756, Frank Almy was born in Massachusetts, America. Nurture a hope that one day he could find his father, so in 1774, he joined the American armed forces and moved to Boston. Incidentally, Robert Almy realized his son, when Frank carried the traditional ring of Almy family. Finally, Frank's dream came true and they had good time with each other, eventhough war was happening. Unfortunately, good things never last long. On the fight at Bunker Hill in 1775, Robert Almy sacrified himself to protect his son from the shoot of army and died. However, Frank Almy did not have any chance to bury his father because he had to move to  Quebec City, New France to defeat of the war for the Americans[7]After being defeated at Trois-Rivières on June 8, 1776, American forces were forced to retreat back into New York, ending the invasion of Canada.[8]. However, Frank Almy became factory workers and worked in the first factory which was held in 1800s. And in 1786, he married with his co-worker, Emily Adam, who was born in New York City in 1760. Then, in 1801, they had their first child. Their first child named Tom Almy. Based on the recent statistical studies suggest that workers' standard of living began to rise after 1820[9], that was why the living of Almy family improved very much. Therefore, in 1854, Frank Almy and Emily Adam died because of bad hygiene, and they were buried at their backyard, New York City, United States.

Welcome back, everybody!

Today, we will learn about the livings of people from 1600 to 1700. This period is seemed very important to the world’s development. Unlike the world before 1600, human and things were changed very quickly and positively in this period. Hence, in this entry, we will discuss about those modifications in Almy family.

About livings:
Firstly, that is about life-span.
In 1500s, human’s life-span were short. One person can live averagely about 60 years, because the standard of living was still low and human did not know how to survive through the winters or diseases. Just like John Almy, he died when he was 51 years old because of starvation in the winter of 1550.

However, in 1600s, the livings of people were better. They knew how to make more food and better food by the Open-field system and the Agricultural Revolution.

Selective breeding
Crop rotation
In additional, [1] the increase in food supply in foods such as potatoes helped the population explosion because people can store potatoes during winnter. That is why the life-span of human was spread out and their lives were improved very much.

Next, that is about classes in society.
In 1500s,
[2] common lands were worked by all the community. Everybody had the right to pick what they grew and poverty people could take what was left after harvest.
[3] Throughout the Cottage Industry and Urban guilds in 1600s, the classes in society had changed. In this period, farms had fency and to have foods, tenants must pay to get them.
Mr. Christopher Almy got married with Clarke Thomas. Then, they worked for the landlord to have foods who was very powerful in that period, owned many pieces of land. Hence, landlords earned lots of profits from exchanging goods because labors were very cheap in this period.
However, European people did not work without paying, then millions of Africans was forced to migrate into Europe. As many as 20 millions Africans were transorted by ship. The amount of unpaid labour was increased sharply in Europe[4]
Finally, that is about the exploration of internal medicine.
Before 1600s, when someone die, people will barry them into the ground directly. This action coincidental caused the poluted to the environment and created deseases such as plague which took away nearly half of the world's population. And Mr and Mrs. Almy were who died because of plague in 1624[5][6] . Plague is really terrible because it spreads out extremely quick and there is no cure or vaccine to prevent or kill it.
So, to prevent the black death come back, people had invented autopsy, which is the method that removes viscera from the death bodies before buries them into the ground[7].
In this ways, it can prevent gem or virus go into the ground and protect human. That is why after 1600s, people live longer, healthier and stronger.
These are modifications  from 1600 to 1700 of Almy's family. Although, there are some negative actions but other inventions still support and improve our lives very good today. Thanks for all good things to make the world better.

To understand clearly about family tree, we have to pick up one Western family and write about their genealogy. Thank for https://familysearch.org/ and http://hougham-huffam.org/, we have found a family to be a good example. So, in this entry, we will talk about 3 generation of Almy family.

John Almy was born in 1499 at Dutton Bassett, Leicestershire, England[1] (Family Tree, 1978). In that period, there were many new lands have been found by the launching of European voyages of expansion, and India and Brazil were two of them which were reached in 1500. When he was 26 years old, he got married with his neighbor, Reynolds who was born in 1504, has the same place of birth with Mr. John. Their marriage lasted about 25 years. Before Mr. John died, he and his wife had a son_ Thomas Almy.

In 1531[2] (Family Tree, Unknown), Mr. Thomas was born in Barton St David, Somersetshire, England. In 1500s, people did not have enough to survive, so people was usually got married because of food. Hence, Mr. Thomas got married Joanne Wale who was born in 1534 at Somersetshire, England [3] (Unknown, 2003) in 1555. Unfortunately, because of the smolder of fire on their house, and there was no way for them to escape from the fire. On 30 October 1604, Mr. and Mrs. Almy were died together and were buried on 31 October 1604 at their hometown[4] (Unknown, Familysearch).

Passed away at the age of about 70 with 5 children, Christopher Almy was one of them. He was born in 1557 at Dutton Bassett, Leicestershire, England. Luckily, in 1580, he was got married with Clarke Thomas, who was born in 1561 in Leicestershire, England[5] (The Hougham/Huffam, 2004). They had 3 children: William Almy, Joan Katherine Almy and Mary Almy. When she gave birth to her last child_ Mary in 1605, she passed away because she lost too much blood. Then, in 1606, Christopher Almy decided to marry Anne Greene, who had the same age with him, was born at Hurley, Warwickshire, England. Moreover, Mr. Christopher and Mrs. Anne were in relationship before Mrs. Clarke passed away, and Mrs. Anne bore him a boy who was Avis Almy, was born in 1601 at South Ki worth, Dutton-Bassett, Leicester, England[6] (Family Search). In 1624, Mr and Mrs. Almy passed away because of plague and were buried at South Ki worth, Dutton-Bassett, Leicester, England.

So, there are summary in 3 generation of Almy family. In the next entry, we will provide you some historical events in this period. Thank you for viewing our blog.                                                                                                                                                   ITEC Students_ Group 1
